Memory 16

[ Relevant issue; pg 3-7 ]

Damian is still 10 in this memory. THE WORST 10 YEAR OLD.

He's broken into Jason's safehouse and placed a crowbar in his bed. While Jason's having a PTSD flashback trying to figure out where that came from, Damian drops from the ceiling to take him by surprise and continues to jam that cool PTSD button!

Jason responds by bringing up Damian's own recent failure and murder (see: memory 14). A fight ensues with both of them doing their level best to jab the other's emotional triggers (pointing out Bruce's bad parenting, arguing over who's done better against the Joker), but there is a good moment where Jason explicitly says he would really like to not fight a 10 year old. And he follows through! He does not do any physical injury to Damian; only defends himself and continues to carry on the, admittedly, very vicious argument they're having.

In the end Damian disarms Jason just long enough to grab his helmet and bolt.

Impact to Talon
Things Recalled/Learned
  1. Jason talks to his furniture.

  2. Damian knew full well that leaving the crow bar there was very likely to trigger a flashback and potential panic/PTSD reaction

  3. He knows he has some kind of grudge against Jason, but he still doesn't remember why.

  4. He knows that Jason's mother betrayed him to the Joker (is not sure who The Joker is), and that it got Jason very, very seriously injured. Knowing Jason was killed is not on the table yet.

  5. He also knows about the difficult relationship between Jason and Bruce, but from his limited understanding and version of events that Damian heard, he believes Jason was in the wrong. If Damian can keep himself from murder than Jason should be able to as well!!

  6. Wait wait The Joker BLEW YOU UP?

  7. "Nobody" is 100% someone Damian killed. He does not recall why yet, so that's awesome!! (See: Memory 14)

  8. He knows that he didn't suffer any punishment from Batman for killing Nobody, knowing it would breech Batman's no kill rule. Damian deliberately does not let himself think about why Jason's experience was different.

  9. Jason really has a soft spot for kids if he won't even beat up a sword wielding 10 year old intentionally triggering all of his biggest traumas.

  10. BUT HE'S A JERK AND DAMIAN HATES HIM >8(

  11. Damian is very intentionally trying to upset him because of [MYSTERIOUS GRUDGE]. This is as much about the bitter revenge of a 10 year old as it is about that 10 year old trying to prove his own worth.

  12. don't think about how much everything damian is saying to Jason are parallels for things he fears about himself don't think about it DON'T THINK ABOUT IT

  13. It really stings to be called an Al Ghul.
